Still Unsure If AlgaeCal Plant Calcium Really Works? Consider The Science
1. A Comparative Effectiveness Research Study on the Safety, Efficacy and Tolerability of a Plant-Sourced Calcium Supplement vs. a Leading Calcium-carbonate Supplement
In a 6 month Comparative Effectiveness Research Study, 50 women with an average age of 55 used AlgaeCal Plant Calcium and maintained a healthy diet and lifestyle. After just 180 days, bone loss was stopped, as indicated by before and after DEXA tests.
A 100 person clinical study showed AlgaeCal Plant Calcium affects bone density 1.6 times greater than the market-leading calcium carbonate, stopping bone loss completely at the 6 month mark. As part of the same study, subjects in the calcium carbonate group reported discomfort (gas, bloating, constipation) resulting in an 18% dropout rate. There were no such complaints or dropouts from the AlgaeCal participants . This study is ongoing with publication expected in 2011.
2. Comparative Effects of AlgaeCal vs. Two Common Calcium Salts on Proliferation and Mineralization in Human Osteoblast Cells
A study comparing effects of AlgaeCal to calcium carbonate and calcium citrate on human osteoblast cells showed AlgaeCal having several-fold greater effect on mineralization and proliferation of these bone building cells. Osteoblasts are the cells responsible for bone growth, and the increased effect due to AlgaeCal helps to explain the ability to stop bone loss. Other significant results from the same study showed AlgaeCal reducing oxidative stress on a cellular level.

3. AlgaeCal Safety and Toxicological Studies
A summary of six safety and toxicology studies has been accepted for publication by the peer-reviewed journal, Toxicology Mechanisms and Actions. The results from US and European studies shows AlgaeCal to have zero safety or toxicological concerns. As well, toxicity of AlgaeCal was tested on pregnant and nursing females with excellent results.

Vitamin D3
There have been a number of studies performed on vitamin D3, and the common thread is that the average person isn’t getting enough. In areas, like the west coast, that sometimes get weeks upon weeks of grey skies, it’s vital that you get enough vitamin D3 in your diet. This vitamin has been shown to work in tandem with calcium to promote strong, healthy bone structure. Boron Studies have shown that in as little as one month, boron can help increase bone strength and decrease the amount of pain one feels from arthritis. Science has made it clear that boron plays a key role in keeping your bones strong and healthy throughout your life.
Magnesium
25 g of your body is made up of magnesium. At least half of that portion resides in your bones. It stands to reason that magnesium plays a part in keeping your bones at optimal functioning level. The Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health says that magnesium is an integral part of the body’s functioning. Not just for bones, but for a wide range of purposes.
It takes time and effort to do all the research, but when it comes to something as important as your health, it’s well worth it. There’s nothing more important than knowing in your heart that the actions you are taking will, without a doubt, be beneficial to your health.
